How to Use Your CounselCraft Download
Start with a clean working copy
Your CounselCraft package is a ZIP download containing a coordinated set of guides and documents. Save the ZIP, extract its contents, and keep the original download unchanged. Create a separate working folder named for your project and the date. Open START_HERE or the contents index before choosing a document.
Choose the right file for the task
- PDF guides: read these for the workflow, scope, and references.
- DOCX documents: use a compatible word processor to edit the supplied forms or letters. Save a new copy for each use.
- Fillable PDFs: download the file and open it in a desktop PDF reader that supports form fields. Enter a short test, save, close, and reopen it before completing a long worksheet.
- HTML tools and indexes: open them in a browser. Keep related files together when the index uses local links.
Work in three passes
- Fit: read the intended-use and exclusions sections. Identify the jurisdiction, people, property, or business involved.
- Facts: collect the records and complete the planning worksheets. Keep uncertain facts marked as uncertain instead of guessing.
- Finish: transfer the confirmed information to the selected documents. Review every field, remove unused drafting prompts as instructed, and follow the applicable signing, delivery, or filing workflow.
A planning worksheet, an editable form, and a government filing serve different purposes. Buying or completing a file does not automatically submit it to an agency, court, bank, or recording office.
Keep a useful completion record
Record the document version, completion date, people who signed, where originals are stored, and any delivery or filing confirmation. Keep a separate folder for final signed documents. When revising later, start by checking the edition date and the current official sources identified in the package.
If a file does not work as expected
Try extracting the ZIP before opening the file, opening the downloaded PDF outside the browser, and saving to a folder you can write to. For help, use our contact page and include the product, order number, file name, device, app, and a short description of the problem. You do not need to send a full case file or payment-card information to report a download problem.
